<p>The method for manufacturing a forged piston for an internal combustion engine with a piston shaft and a piston head having a piston top and a ring part, comprises inserting a holder (16) for insert parts (20) into a casting mold (11), fixing the insert part in the holder by a retaining means (22), casting a cast part, in which a fluid material (14) is supplied to the casting mold by a feeding device (13), cooling the cast part, removing the cast part from the casting mold and if necessary separating a blank, and forging the cast part and/or the blank in several stages to a piston blank. The method for manufacturing a forged piston for an internal combustion engine with a piston shaft and a piston head having a piston top and a ring part, comprises inserting a holder (16) for insert parts (20) into a casting mold (11), fixing the insert part in the holder by a retaining means (22), casting a cast part, in which a fluid material (14) is supplied to the casting mold by a feeding device (13), cooling the cast part, removing the cast part from the casting mold and if necessary separating a blank, forging the cast part and/or the blank in several stages to a piston blank, and finishing the piston blank to a piston. The holder has a recess for receiving the retaining means and is used in the form of two steel strips provided with recesses. The retaining means is radially and/or transversely connected and outwardly aligned with the insert part. Steel pins are used as the retaining means. A salt core for a cooling channel and/or a ring carrier is used as insert part. The retaining means is connected with the ring carrier and the salt core. The casting mold is suitable for carrying out a continuous compound casting method for producing cast strands with molded insert part and with a core material. The holder is inserted into the casting mold, so that it protrudes over the feeding device and then continuously runs along with the cast strand. The insert parts are fixed above the feeding device in the holder, and in a defined distance to each other in the holder. The blank is separated by separating of the cast strand. During the separation of the blank, the retaining means is used for defining a separation level. A cladding material surrounds the core material. The insert parts are molded to each other in equal distance and partially molded in the cladding material. A wear-resistance material is used as cladding material and the heat-resistance material is used as core material. The separated blank is subjected to a single- or multi-step isothermal forging process. Independent claims are included for: (1) a forged piston for an internal combustion engine; and (2) a device for manufacturing a forged piston for an internal combustion engine.</p> |
