PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical apparatus having an image blurring correction device, which reduces unnecessary resonance of a correcting lens of the image blurring correction device and corrects image blurring with high precision. SOLUTION: This optical apparatus has the image blurring correction device provided with: a swing detecting means for detecting swing applied to a camera; an image blurring correction operation driving means for driving the correcting lens based on the results of detection by the swing detecting means to correct image blurring due to swing; and a selecting means for selecting whether the correction of image blurring due to swing by operating the image blurring correction operation driving means is permitted or not permitted. The image blurring correction controlling means, when the permission of correction of image blurring is selected, drives correction of the image blurring by first driving characteristics, and holds the correcting lens in the vicinity of optical axis electrically by second driving characteristics when non-permission of correction of image blurring is selected.
