PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facility search apparatus and a search facility display method which allows, even when a user does not accurately remember the formal name of a desired facility, the user to search for the facility in a short time. SOLUTION: When a facility category (for example, "Chinese noodle shop") is designated via an operation section, a facility belonging to the category is searched for, by referring to map data stored in a storage medium. When a list in which facilities searched for are arranged, in the order of the reading of their names, is generated and is displayed on a screen of a display, and when it is determined that the facilities searched for include a facility including a word relating to the category (for example, "ramen", "Chinese noodle", or the like) at the beginning of its name, the facilities belonging to the category are displayed on the screen so that in the list, it is so arranged at a first position corresponding to the reading of the name and that it is also arranged at a second position, corresponding to a reading in which the reading relating to the category is removed from its name.
