PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key switch structure capable of obtaining compatibility with an ordinary keyboard in terms of a contour without making a keyboard high in profile, and further, achieved in cost reduction without adding a new member for illumination. SOLUTION: A light transparency cutout character part 11c is formed at each key top 11. A membrane sheet 16 having contact parts is endowed with light transparency, and a back plate 17 arranged at a lower part of the membrane sheet 16 is made to have light transparency. Then, a notch hole 17b is formed at the back plate 17, and an LED 18 as a light source is installed downward.
