PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cooling efficiency to the heat generation in a moving member, without attaching a member, such as a heat sink or a heat dissipation plate, etc., to the moving member. SOLUTION: A linear motor comprises: a stator which is equipped with one or more magnetic pole rows such as that adjacent magnetic poles where a plurality of permanent magnets are arranged in rows on second cores become different each other; and the moving member which is equipped with coils in the slots provided on the first cores thereby generating shifting fields by applying currents to the coils. The stator and the moving member are arranged via a gap face so that the magnetic pole rows of the stator and the shifting fields of the moving member may be parallel to each other, and the stator and an exhaust heat plate are so arranged as not to shift relatively, and are arranged so that the flat face of the exhaust heat plate may face the flank of the moving member, so as not to obstruct the shift of the moving member, and besides are arranged over the movable range of the moving member.
