摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL device excellent in light-emitting efficiency with high exciton mobility to a quantum dot which serves as a light-emitting material. SOLUTION: In the electroluminescent device, a light-emitting layer includes a matrix material containing an organic compound, and a quantum dot which is dispersed in the matrix material and has a surface protected by a protective material. When assuming that the protective material has an ionization potential Ip(h), an electron affinity Ea(h), and a band gap Eg(h), and the organic compound contained in the matrix material has an ionization potential Ip(m), an electron affinity Ea(m), and a band gap Eg(m), and the quantum dot has a band gap Eg(q), the protective material includes a first protective material satisfying all the following conditions (A)-(C): (A)Ip(h)<Ip(m)+0.1 eV, (B)Ea(h)>Ea(m)-0.1 eV, and (C)Eg(q)<Eg(h)<Eg(m).
