Disclosed is a lubricant composition comprising a base oil which contains 50% by mass or more of at least one of an alpha-olefin oligomer and a hydrogenated product of an alpha-olefin oligomer and in which the kinematic viscosity and the flash point satisfy the following relational equation (I): <?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="lead"?>Flash point (° C.)>=49xln gamma+90 (I)<?in-line-formulae description="In-line Formulae" end="tail"?> [provided that gamma is a kinematic viscosity at 40° C.]. The lubricant composition contains a base oil which has little effect on a resin or elastomer because it is a nonpolar compound, in addition to having an extremely small amount of evaporation and a high flash point despite a low viscosity, and is suitable for various applications, in particular, as bearing oils.
