<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately classify a large quantity of video contents so that a user can select a content and enjoy it, according to the mood of the user. <P>SOLUTION: A recording and playback apparatus 100 detects camera operating system video features, such as panning, tilting, zooming from a plurality of video contents and video-editing system video features, such as fading, cutting, classifies the contents for learning of a predetermined number through clustering processing, on the basis of the respective video features, and learns the result of the classification, to select the video features suitable for classification processing of video contents. On the basis of the selected video feature, a discrimination function is calculated for discriminating and analyzing video contents other than the contents for learning; a discrimination function value (f) for each of video contents is calculated by the discrimination function; with the relevant discrimination function value (f) as activity, the respective video contents are classified into active video contents, non-active video contents and intermediate video contents therebetween; and the result of the classification is then displayed on a content list as activity identification information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
