PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine which accurately detects imbalance of the laundry so that the operation time may not be prolonged and abnormal vibration and noise may not be generated by change in temperature of vibration-proof rubber which supports a water tub for housing a rotating drum by room temperature, use conditions and the like. SOLUTION: The drum type washing machine includes a temperature detecting means 40 which detects the temperature of the vibration-proof rubber 77 which supports the water tub 3, an electric current detecting means 27 which detects the driving current of a drum driving motor 5 and a revolution detecting means 24 which detects the number of revolutions of the rotating drum 2. A controlling means 20 allows execution of the cloth balance determining process in which it is determined as to whether the laundry uniformly sticks to the inner peripheral wall of the rotating drum 2 or not at the time of the dewatering start-up process during dewatering operations in different processes. It also corrects signals from the electric current detecting means 27 and the revolution detecting means 24 by signals of a temperature detecting means 40 near the vibration-proof rubber 77.
