VIDEO DISPLAY DEVICE AND SIGNAL PROCESSING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device and a signal processing method capable of suppressing unnaturalness (video backlash) without complicating a configuration as a whole device.

SOLUTION: The video display device 100 outputs an output frame having an output frame interval shorter than an original frame interval that an original frame has. The device includes: a display element 30 for displaying output frames in order for each output frame interval; a light source 10 which irradiates the display element 30 with light; and a light source control unit 250 which controls a light emission period that is period for the light source 10 to emit light. Original frames include a first original frame and a second original frame that is adjacent to the first original frame on a time base. Output frames include a plurality of first output frames equivalent to the first original frame and a plurality of second output frames equivalent to the second original frame. The light source control unit 250 aligns a light emission period corresponding to the plurality of first output frames and a light emission period corresponding to the plurality of second output frames.
