PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently suppress the deviation of impact positions of liquid drops. SOLUTION: This head unit for a liquid discharge apparatus has a plurality of nozzles; elements operated for discharge from the nozzles; a shift quantity memory that stores, for every element, shift quantity data showing the shift quantity corresponding to the deviation degree of the impact positions of liquid drops in the conveying direction of a medium given impact by the liquid drops; an operation data generating part for generating operation data indicating the operation contents of every element regarding a row region which is the discharge target of the liquid drops based on basic operation data having a plurality of operation content data showing the operation contents of the elements according to the elements. The operation data generating part selects the operation content data for the row region to be the discharge target of the liquid drops, from the plurality of operation content data in the basic operation data, based on the shift quantity data, and stores the selected operation content data in the operation content data memory.
