PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate valve having excellent sealability, easily performing maintenance, having high safety, and compact as the whole gate valve. SOLUTION: This gate valve has a valve casing body formed in a valve casing shape, a gate opening part formed in the valve casing body by penetrating through a pair of its opposed sidewalls, one side valve plate for opening-closing the gate opening part of one side sidewall, the other side valve plate for opening-closing the gate opening part of the other side sidewall, one side valve plate driving mechanism for closing the one side valve plate to the gate opening part of the one side sidewall, the other side valve plate driving mechanism for closing the other side valve plate to the gate opening part of the other side sidewall, one side valve plate energizing mechanism for energizing the one side valve plate in the direction of the gate opening part of the one side sidewall, and the other side valve plate energizing mechanism for energizing the other side valve plate in the direction of the gate opening part of the other side sidewall.
