The method involves detecting projections in two time slots (28, 29) at movement phases (24, 25) of a periodically moving organ of a patient, respectively, while triggering by an electrocardiogram signal (26) that represents a movement of the organ. A thermionic current (I) is modulated such that different values (I1, I2) of the current are preset in the time slots for obtaining a preset different signal-to-noise ratio in tomographic images. The current is lowered to a low value (I3) between the time slots, where the value (I3) lies below the values (I1, I2) of the current in the time slots.
