Class 44 In a locking device for retaining in position against the action of force, a chain connected to a blind, curtain or other article capable of being alternately displaced in one of two directions opposed to one another, an opening adapted to retain the chain is provided in the locking device and comprises a circular portion and an oblong portion of which the side walls are at an acute angle to each other. As shown, the device consists of a bent metal strip 18 which is clamped to a flexible tubing housing a ball chain 26 for operating a car radiator blind. The free end of the chain passes through a generally key-hole shaped aperture 10, the chain being held in the locked position by engagement with the narrow end of the aperture, the sides of which are at an angle of 35 degrees to one another. In a modification the strip 18 is replaced by a slotted plate attached to a tubular threaded member which may be screwed to the dashboard of a motor, vehicle.
