The method involves injecting fuel directly into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. A pre-injection of fuel passes during a load-cycle changes of an internal combustion engine. A main injection of fuel takes place with an operation cycle such that the combustion arises due to the pre-injection that is closed in the combustion chamber, before the main injection takes place.
