A folding desk comprises a desk plate, two side plates 12, 14 pivotally connected to ends of the desk plate, and a front baffle or modesty panel 16 pivotally connected to a lower side of the desk plate. Position restricting and locking mechanisms (18, Figs. 11, 12) are provided at the connection positions between the front baffle and the side plates to stabilise the desk in its open state. The desk plate is a plastic composite board comprising a perforated plate (24, Fig. 5) and liner (26, Fig. 5) sandwiched between a faceplate (20, Fig. 5) and a soleplate (22, Fig. 5), the liner covering part or all the periphery of the perforated plate. The side plates are linked to the desk plate by hinge units 54 connected between the side plates and the liner. The front baffle may be linked to the desk plate by at least two hinge units 52 connected between the front baffle and the liner. |
