A sheet steel product bears a metal anti-corrosion surface layer incorporating zinc, further: 4 to 8 % Wt. Mg: Al 0.5 to 1.8 % Wt, and other unavoidable impurities. The anti-corrosion layer incorporates one or more of the following elements: Si: less than 2 %. Pb: less than 0.1 %,Ti: less than 0.2 %, Ni: less than 1 %, Cu: less than 1 %, Co: less than 0.3 %, Mn: less than 0.5 %, Cr: less than 0.2 %, Sr: less than 0.5 %, Fe: less than 3 %, B: less than 0.1 %, Bi: less than 0.1 %, Cd: less than 0.1 %, REM less than 0.2 %, Sn less than 0.5 %. The metal coating contains at least 4.5 % Mg Wt. Further claimed is a manufacturing process.
