The method involves supplying fresh air (10), fuel (20) and recycled exhaust gas (30) from a combustion chamber (18) of an internal combustion engine supplies. An amount of fuel and an amount of the recycled exhaust gas are determined in response to load requirement at the engine. Portions of oxygen (12) and inert gas (14) e.g. carbon dioxide, required for combustion are determined in response to the load requirement as well as an operating condition of the engine. The amounts of fuel, fresh air and/or exhaust gas are determined in response to the portions of the oxygen and the inert gas. |
