<p>#CMT# #/CMT# The device has a support surface (2), and mobile clamping plates (5) for plating a piece on the support surface when the plates are supported against an upper side of the piece. The plates are raised during the insertion and removal of the piece. Mobile clamping jaws (3) are provided in a plane parallel to the support surface to maintain an inner portion (11) of the piece through its lateral sides. The plates are actuated independent of the jaws using a pneumatic system e.g. pneumatic piston, where the jaws are supported on a portion of an opening of the piece. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for machining a piece. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Device for supporting a piece e.g. bridge and plate of a clock movement, to maintain the piece using a movable tool e.g. vice or mandrel, during its machining in a machining center. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The clamping plates permit effective plating of the machined piece while simultaneously maintaining a cut out portion by the jaws.
