The device has a cylindrical drum (3) mounted at level of an upper part of an intake in a portion of a conveyor. The drum is mounted rotatingly along an axis parallel to a rotation axis of a rotation unit of a belt (1) of the conveyor. A stripping plate (4) is placed against a part of a radial face of the drum, and presents a curvature parallel to the radial face of the drum. Spaces for separating the plate from the drum and separating the drum from the belt, are adjustable and/or defined by height of scrapping and scaffoling elements. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a container opening device.
