<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated cutting tool with improved performance for milling of steels. <P>SOLUTION: A coated super alloy insert (cutting tool) is particularly useful for dry or wet milling of steels. The coated cutting tool for milling comprises a super alloy body which includes WC, NbC, TaC, and a W-alloyed Co binder phase, and a coating which includes an innermost layer of TiC<SB>x</SB>N<SB>y</SB>O<SB>z</SB>with equiaxed grains, a layer of TiC<SB>x</SB>N<SB>y</SB>O<SB>z</SB>with columnar grains and a layer ofαAl<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
