PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device capable of surely emitting a predetermined amount of light equal to or greater than that from the prior light source, or an automatic analyzer that uses this the light source device. SOLUTION: The light source device 14a includes light sources L, M capable of outputting predetermined rated power Bt during a rated lighting period T; a measuring section 14a-2 for amounts of light from the light sources L, M; and a controller 16 for controlling the voltages being applied to the light sources L, M and controlling the amounts of light outputted from the light sources L, M, based on amounts of lights outputted that are feed-backed from the measurement section 14a-2. The controller 16 initiates, after the start of lighting of the light source L, lighting of the light source M before the lapse of a rated lighting period. Also, when one of the light sources L, M is unavailable due to the decrease of the amount of light outputted from one of the light sources, the controller 16 issues a warning that the light source device 14a has an unavailable light source and displays a screen which requests light source replacement processing for it.
