PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a diamond particle dispersion type metal-matrix composite material of superior quality, by reducing damage to diamond particles in the production process through using a discharging plasma sintering method. SOLUTION: The method for producing the diamond particle dispersion type metal-matrix composite material includes preparing a mixture of two types of metal powder particles having different melting points from each other by 10 to 200°C and diamond powder particles, and sintering the mixture at a temperature of the melting point of the metal particle having a lower melting point or higher but lower than the melting point of the metal particle having a higher melting point.
