PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for forming a light emitting medium which has a high fluorescence quantum yield, high transparency, abundant color preparation, and high efficiency and is excellent in storing stability and handling stability, the light emitting medium, a display device, and a light emitting medium film forming method. SOLUTION: This composition for forming the light emitting medium contains a light emitting semiconductor nano crystal light emitting body, and a protection compound having as a functional group a phenol group or a phosphate group. The ratio of the protection compound of the composition for forming the light emitting medium in relation to the semiconductor nano crystal light emitting body is more than 1 mass% and less than 60 mass%.
