<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve reduction of cost by exchanging only an intermediate transfer belt, and to achieve rapid exchange thereof. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has: an image forming apparatus body; an intermediate transfer unit 1 having the intermediate transfer belt 2 and supported to slide over between a set position A where it is attached to the image forming apparatus body and a belt exchange position B where it is pulled out from the image forming apparatus body; and a tensioning and tension-relieving mechanism provided in the intermediate transfer unit 1 and tensioning the intermediate transfer belt 2 and relieving the tension. In a state where the intermediate transfer unit 1 is arranged at the belt exchange position B and the tension of the intermediate transfer belt 2 is relieved, the intermediate transfer belt 2 is made to get in and out in a belt width direction, thereby changing the intermediate transfer belt 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
