<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, as a deodorization method using a decomposition action of odorous components by microorganisms, a water spraying method supplying water necessary for growth of microorganisms to a filler layer carrying microorganisms, while preventing the filler layer from being excessively wetted with cleaning water causing little passing of the gas to be treated. <P>SOLUTION: In this water spraying method, water is sprayed in three stages of: atomized water spray 4A for causing downflow of gas to be treated together with droplets by spraying in the same direction as the gas to be treated flowing down from above and attaching droplets to the gas to be treated; microorganism growth water spray 4B for supplying water necessary for growth of microorganisms in the filler layer carrying microorganisms decomposing the odorous components; and cleaning water spray 4C for supplying water necessary for cleaning the filler layer.
