PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head positioning method for a magnetic recording device, capable of improving head positioning accuracy without requiring additional configuration and achieving inexpensive and highly reliable data signal reading. SOLUTION: When writing data in a switching area of a head positioning expression, the head is set off-track from the switching area to eliminate the head positioning in the switching area. Thus, highly accurate head positioning is carried out without changing the configurations of the circuit and the mechanism of the magnetic recording device. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
