PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire for heavy load capable of sufficiently suppressing eccentric wearing of, in particular, a shoulder rib positioned at a tread side part area of the pneumatic tire for heavy load in which a thin groove, i.e., a defense groove for suppressing eccentric wearing of the shoulder rib is arranged until it arrives at a last stage of wearing of a tread. SOLUTION: A step down rib 3 is divided by the thin groove 2 of the tread 1, and the shoulder rib 5 is partitioned by the thin groove 2 and a circumferential groove 4.
