A portable electronic device (1) includes an interface (10), a circuit board (200) and an accessory identifying unit (100). The interface includes a plurality of connectors (VBUS, D+, D- and ID). The circuit board includes a plurality of controlling circuits (21, 22, 23 and 24). The accessory identifying unit is electronically connected to the interface and the circuit board, and includes a plurality of detection circuits (11, 12 and 13) corresponding to the connectors and the controlling circuits. Each detection circuit is electronically connected to its corresponding connector and detection circuit.
