A medical system (110) is proposed, which comprises a central control unit (114), which is equipped to display at least one diagnostic measured value by way of a display element (118). The medical system (110) also comprises at least one invasive unit (120), said invasive unit (120) having at least one invasive consumable (132). The invasive consumable (132) is equipped to perform invasive surgery on a tissue of a patient. The invasive unit (120) has at least one electronic identifier (140), which can be read out without contact, for storing at least one piece of information. The central control unit (114) is equipped to electronically read out the least one piece of information of the electronic identifier (140). The central control unit (114) and the invasive unit (120) are functionally independent of one another such that the respective functions of the central control unit (114) and the invasive unit (120) can be executed independently of the presence of the respectively other unit (114, 120).
