The machine (1) has two gear wheels (12, 14) combing with each other, where teeth of the gear wheels limit displacement chambers (36). The gear wheels together have a defined position. An actuator device is provided for adjusting a position of an axis during an operation of the gear machine. The actuator device works against forces of the shaft deflection, where a shaft center distance of a drive shaft (16) and a bearing shaft (24) is changed. The actuator device is arranged at gear wheel shaft ends (38) that are supported in a flexible bearing sleeve (34). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a hydraulic gear machine.
