<p>A process of preparing Medetomidine of Formula (I) or an acid addition salt thereof, which process comprises: (i) reacting 2,3-dimethyl-methylbenzylalcohol with N-trimethylsilylimidazole, and, if desired, converting the Medetomidine to an acid addition salt thereof.</p>
