PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel acetylene compound that is useful as a raw material for high heat-resistant condensation polymer.

SOLUTION: The acetylene compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein X is -OCO-, -NRCO- or the like, Ar is an aryl or hetero aryl group; R, R', R'', R''' are individually H, a hydrocarbon group or a hetero ring group; R1is H or an alkyl group or the like; A is a hydrocarbon group or hetero ring group; and m, n, and a are each an integer).
