MULTIPLE VECTOR QUANTIZATION METHOD, DEVICE, PROGRAM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed multiple vector quantization technology where an operation amount has been reduced.

SOLUTION: Values of cross items cross (j, m) regarding a pair of representative output vectors (x_j, y_m) selected respectively from a code book X storage part 31 and a code book Y storage part 32 are calculated in advance and stored by a cross table storage part 6. The cross items are defined regardless of an input vector (u) among definition equations of a second distance measure d (j, m). The second distance measure calculation part 5 refers to the cross table storage part 6 to find a value of a cross item cross (j, m) needed when finding the second distance measure d (j, m).
