PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel consumption efficiency without dropping exhaust emission control performance of a catalyst in restart of an internal combustion engine controlled to temporarily stop during vehicle travel. SOLUTION: ECU executes a program including a step S110 for judging whether estimated temperature TSC of a first catalyst purifying exhaust gas of an engine is higher than lower limit temperature T(1) or not, a step S112 for judging whether estimated temperature TUF of a second catalyst provided at a downstream of the first catalyst is higher than lower limit temperature T(2) or not, a step S114 for continuing temporary stop of the engine when TSC is higher than T(1) (Yes in S110) and TUF is higher than T(2) (Yes in S112), and a step S116 for restarting the engine when TSC is lower than T(1) (No in S110) or TUF is lower than T(2) (No in S112).
