PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for polycarbonate having a polymerization degree sufficient for having sufficient mechanical strength and having a vegetable-originated component having improved coloring, and polycarbonate by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The polycarbonate with high polymerization degree having the vegetable origin component excellent in mechanical strength and having sufficient color hue is obtained by the manufacturing method for the polycarbonate using a barium compound as a polymerization-condensation catalyst.
