A rainhead (10) for connecting a downpipe (11) to guttering (13) within a roof plumbing system (15).The rainhead (10) comprises an upper portion (21) defining a catchment zone (23) and a lower portion (25) defining a spout (27) for connection to the downpipe (11). The upper portion (21) is configured as a box (31) having two opposed side walls (41) formed of a material such as plastics that can be cut by a user to form an opening therein. The lower portion (25) includes a frusto-conical section (47) which extends between the bottom wall (35) of the catchment zone (2)3 and the spout (27). The frusto-conical section (47) is tapered inwardly and downwardly towards the spout (27) thereby to cause rainwater to flow in spiralling vortex arrangement along the surface of the frusto-conical section to the spout (27). The rainhead (10) is arranged to be installed within two gutter sections (13a, 13b) of the guttering (13), each having an end (14). The gap between the two ends 14 is less than the spacing between the opposed side walls (41) of the rainhead (10). An opening (61) can be formed in each of the opposed side walls (41) as part of the installation process, the opening (61) having a profile corresponding to the profile of the guttering (13). With this arrangement, the gutter sections (13a, 13b) can extend through the side walls (41) and into the catchment zone (23) and the rainhead (10) can provide a coupling between the guttering (13) and the downpipe (11).
|
