IMPROVED ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE DEVICE

An electrostatic discharge device adapted to be mounted to an electrical fixture wallplate is disclosed. The discharge device consists of a circuit having at least a resistor and preferably a non-linear discharge component mounted on an electrical fixture wallplate. The discharge device utilizes point contact electrodes. Preferably the device utilizes a printed circuit board and/or a cover to cover at least partially the resistor, the neon bulb, connecting wires, or any combination thereof. A method for making the device is also disclosed.
