PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting device capable of also using a hydraulic cylinder for lifting and opening/closing of a lifting platform, performing switching of lifting action and opening/closing action with sufficient operability, and attaining simplification of a mechanism. SOLUTION: The lifting device is provided with a guide post 2; a runner 4 liftably guided by this; and a lifting platform 10 pivotally attached to the runner 4 so as to become horizontal in the opened state, and has a double-action hydraulic cylinder 30 pivotally attached to an end part of an arm 20 having one end pivotally attached to the guide post 2 and the other end fixed to the platform 10; and an engagement mechanism 40 engaging the runner 4 at an ascending position. Lifting action of the platform 10 is performed by operating the double action hydraulic cylinder 30 in the disengagement state by the engagement mechanism 40, and opening/closing action of the platform is performed by operating the double action hydraulic cylinder 30 in the runner engagement state by the engagement mechanism 40.
