摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal joint which can exhibit a rotary-transmission function enabling minimum torque transfer even if a bearing and the like of a cross-shaped joint member are broken. SOLUTION: The universal joint includes a first yoke 21 which has a base end 21a coupled to a first rotating shaft 11 and a bifurcate tip 21b, a second yoke 22 which has a base end 22a coupled to a second rotating shaft 12 and a bifurcate tip 22b, and a cross-shaped joint member 23. In the cross-shaped joint member 23, a first short shaft 23a coupled rotatably to the tip 21b of the first yoke 21 and a second short shaft 23b coupled rotatably to the tip 22b of the second yoke 22 are integrated so as to cross-intersect with one another. In the universal joint, the tip 21b of the first yoke 21 has the largest width W1m that is larger than the inside width df2 of the tip 22b of the second yoke 22, and the tip 22b of the second yoke 22 has the largest width W2m that is larger than the inside width df1 of the tip 21b of the first yoke 21.
