PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting edge exchangeable cutting tip which copes with both of wear resistance and chipping resistance and is excellent in a sticking property between a base material and a coated layer. SOLUTION: The cutting edge exchangeable cutting tip has the base material and the coated layer formed on the base material. The coated layer is made of a plurality of layers, wherein compressive residual stress is given to only the uppermost-surface layer and the uppermost-surface layer is a layer made of either of Ti carbide, nitride, and carbonized nitride as a main component and the compressive residual stress given to the uppermost-surface layer is 0.05-2 GPa. The coated layer includes at least one alumina layer made of mainly Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>on the inside of the uppermost-surface layer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
