A transmitting device and a method of indicating the position of a transmitting device is disclosed. The transmitting device comprises an emergency location transmitter, a primary and secondary antenna, and a switch means. The primary antenna is operationally connected to the emergency location transmitter, and the secondary antenna is usually operationally disconnected from the emergency location transmitter. The switch means automatically connects the second antenna to the emergency location transmitter if the primary antenna ceases to function.
