PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a durable organic EL element using a light emission mechanism. SOLUTION: In the organic electroluminescence element which has an anode, a light emitting layer, and a cathode in this order, the light emitting layer contains at least a phosphorescent organic compound (a), a fluorescent organic compound (b), and an organic compound (c) having a higher energy level than the lowest excited triplet state of the compounds (a) and (b), and energy transfer efficiency from the energy level (Ea<SB>T1</SB>) of the lowest excited triplet state of the compound (a) to the energy level (Eb<SB>S1</SB>) of the lowest excited singlet state of the compound (b) is 10 to 40% under a solution condition.
