PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add a new function associated with automatic video recording, by merging characters with an automatic video recording function and by freely operating equipment by the decision of the characters themselves. SOLUTION: This electronic equipment includes a character control section 16 which displays one or a plurality of unique characters that one or a plurality of users select on the screen of a monitor device 30 and controls the operations and conversations of the displayed specific characters, and the character control section 16 displays a first specific character that a first user selects and a second specific character that a second user selects on the screen of the monitor device 30 when the first user operates this HD built-in type DVD recorder 1, and also displays a message, introducing one or a plurality of programs that have already been recorded automatically in a video recording category allocated to the second character, on the screen of the monitor device 30 so as to introduce the new programs to the first specific character.
