Disclosed is a process for producing a membrane card to separate materials from fluid, comprising exposing a fluoropolymeric film to a bombardment of heavy ions, such as krypton, argon, xenon, andor bismuth, to provide the film with a track density, performing preliminary stretching of the film, and etching the sections of tracked film with an alkaline etching solution to provide the sections of film with a density of pores.
