<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a high resolution image at high speed. <P>SOLUTION: An SR (super resolution) image is generated by super resolution processing using a Gauss-Seidel iteration method such that a feedback value calculated by a super resolution processor 51<SB>0</SB>is added to an SR image stored in an SR image buffer 55, an SR image obtained by first addition processing is added to a feedback value calculated by the next super resolution processor 51<SB>1</SB>, and further, an SR image obtained by second addition processing is added to a feedback value calculated by the next super resolution processor 51<SB>2</SB>. The generated SR image is outputted to the outside, supplied to the SR image buffer 55 through a switch 53 and used in the next super resolution processing.
