PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a similar image with high accuracy by utilizing accumulated knowledge. SOLUTION: A similar image search apparatus 10 associates each of a plurality of images text information described about images with each of a plurality of images and stores them, searches a candidate image group composed of images having an image feature similar to an image feature extracted about a designated search key among the plurality of stored images, extracts text features from the text information stored while associated with each image of the candidate image group, selects a text feature that satisfies a prescribed selection condition among the extracted text features, converts the candidate image group and respective image features of a search key image on the basis of the selected text feature, and searches a similar image group composed of images having image features similar to the search key image from the candidate image group on the basis of the converted image features.
