PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravure platemaking roll, with which a direct gravure printing can be possible to a rigid material to be printed without employing a blanket roll by employing a printing plate, especially the printing plate with cushioning properties printing plate, the favorable gravure printing to a rough surface such as corrugated board printing or the like can be executed and color printing of a matrix image for constituting a color filter to a glass for a liquid crystal panel or color printing of an image to a compact disc or the like is suitable, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method includes: a step for preparing a plate matrix; a copper plating step for forming a copper plating layer on the surface of the plate matrix; a step for forming a photosensitive composition layer on the surface of the copper plating layer; a step for forming non-gravure cell recesses on the surface of the photosensitive composition layer; a step for forming a metallic plating layer on the non-gravure cell recesses; and a step for forming gravure cell recesses by removing the photosensitive composition layer after the forming step of the metallic plating layer.
