Disclosed is a process for producing a crystal of (Z)-11-(3'-dimethylaminopropylidene)-6,11- dihydrodibenz[b,e]oxepin-2-acetic acid hydrochloride that is useful as a medicinal agent. Specifically disclosed is a process for producing a crystal of (Z)-11-(3'-dimethylaminopropylidene)-6,11- dihydrodibenz[b,e]oxepin-2-acetic acid hydrochloride, which is characterized by dissolving (Z)-11-(3'- dimethylaminopropylidene)-6,11-dihydrodibenz[b,e]oxepin-2-acetic acid hydrochloride in an aprotic polar solvent and adding the resulting solution to an ether solvent, thereby causing the crystallization of the compound.
