PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that an existing shade cannot be used in a conventional vehicle headlamp. SOLUTION: The headlamp is provided with a second reflecting surface 16, a third reflecting surface 17, and a surface 11 of a shade 5. The second reflecting surface 16 is positioned at the upper part than the shade 5, and reflects light L3 which is not reflected by a first reflecting surface 9 and is not shielded by the shade 5 out of the light from a discharge lamp 2 to between the shade 5 and a projection lens 4. The third reflecting surface 17 is positioned between the shade 5 and the projection lens 4, and positioned at the lower part than the reflecting portion 20 of the shade 5, and reflects the reflection light L4 from the second reflecting surface 16 to the shade 5 side. The reflecting portion 20 of the shade 5 reflects the reflection light L5 from the third reflecting surface 17 to the projection lens 4 side as a light distribution pattern SP for overhead sign.
